Grant Harlan earns eighth place overall at Thunder Valley

Colorado is a good state to Grant Harlan

The Hawaiʻi native does it again!

In a rather depleted field in the 450 class, Hawaiʻi's own Grant Harlan made the Hawaiian population proud with a career-best eighth place overall with 8-7 moto scores last Saturday.

Harlan has hung with the front runners like Cooper Webb, rookie Jett Lawrence, Aaron Plessinger, and Dylan Ferrandis. Harlan finished a respectable eighth place in moto 1.

In moto 2, Harlan got a second-place start and hung with Kawasaki's Adam Cianciarulo for almost the entire second moto. Harlan steadily rode to seventh place in the second moto for his eighth place overall.

Harlan's 8-7 moto scores was the second noteworthy performance of the day. Kawasaki privateer Ty Masterpool of Paradise, Texas finished a commendable sixth place overall with a 5-4; however, Masterpool was robbed of a third-place finish in moto 2 when Yamaha's Ferrandis passed him with only a few turns remaining.

Honda's Lawrence continued his remarkable rookie season start with another 1-1 sweep to make it six consecutive moto wins and three consecutive overall wins. Lawrence has also led all 92 laps this season.

Earlier this week, Harlan confirmed he will be racing the World Supercross series, the counterpart to the AMA Motocross series, which will take place soon.

The rest of the riders will travel to High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania for round four of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship on Saturday, June 17, 2023.
