'Bows dig deep in second half to take two over UC San Diego
UH makes it four in a row against UC San Diego all time
The momentum is building.
The Rainbow Warrior Men's Basketball team pulled off a come-from-behind win, 69-62, over the UC San Diego Tritons at the Stan Sheriff Center on Thursday.
The 'Bows had to fight back from a double-digit deficit to upset UCSD's apple cart. Despite a slow start, UH tightened the screws and managed to cut the gap to single digits thanks to a JoVon McClanahan layup at the buzzer to trail 35-29 at the break.
UH came out strong in the second half with an immediate triple. They then sparked a 15-0 run while UCSD scored only 3 points in the first few minutes. The 'Bows finally took the lead off a Kody Williams layup, which included an additional foul. Once Williams gave UH the lead, the 'Bows did not let it go.
Towards the end, UH made 2-point shots while UCSD made three triples in a row, but a Samuta Avea triple, and two MONSTER dunks put the writing on the wall.
UH will now face off against Cal State Fullerton on Saturday, Feb. 11. The 'Bows are looking for revenge after losing in overtime at Titan Gym, 79-72, and committing an egregious 22 turnovers overall.
