Hawaiʻi's own Grant Harlan earns ninth place at Denver Supercross

Kailua-Kona native finishes in top 10 at Denver Supercross

At Denver's Mile High Stadium this past Saturday, Hawaiʻi native Grant Harlan earned a season-best finish of ninth place in the 450 main.

Harlan, who calls Kailua-Kona home, despite being listed as from Justin, Texas, races for the Rock River Yamaha team, a privateer-support team in the sport of Supercross. Supercross is a motorcycle racing sport where dirt bike athletes compete on man-made tracks that range from 45 seconds to one minute or more in football or baseball venues around the continental United States.

Harlan, who has been a professional racer since 2020, has one career top-5 finish. He took fifth place at the Indianapolis 2 Supercross in the 250 main aboard a Honda CRF250R on Feb. 5, 2021. His fifth place is the best finish by a Hawaiʻi-born racer since former pro racer John DeSoto won at Delta Motorsport Park in Delta, Ohio in July 1973.

Harlan will race in the final round of the 2023 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship at Salt Lake City's Rice-Eccles Stadium to conclude his season. The 2023 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship and 2023 SuperMotocross series this Fall remain in question.
