Hawaiʻi Softball holds off Fordham

The Rainbow Wāhine Softball team managed to stop a possible upset over Fordham, 4-2, at Rainbow Wāhine Softball Stadium on Friday.

The start made all the difference for the 'Bows, as they immediately shot out to a 4-0 lead after the first two innings. Haley Johnson belted an RBI single, which resulted in Xiao Gin scoring the first run of the game.

In the second inning, Cierra Yamamoto belted another RBI single, which allowed two more runs via Cira Bartolotti and Maycen Gibbs. The 'Bows got another unearned run via Yamamoto, which would mark UH's final score of the contest.

Fordham kept coming up empty until the sixth inning. Sydney Wells belted an RBI double to put them on the board via two runs, but Fordham came up empty in the seventh to put the nail in the coffin.

UH improves to 15-7 overall while Fordham drops to 4-12. UH will now face a doubleheader on Saturday as they take on Iowa State at 3 pm HST and against Fordham again at 5 pm HST.
