Hawaiʻi Softball drops third straight game to UC San Diego
Triple homer in sixth inning by UC San Diego dooms 'Bows Softball
The troubles are continuing.
The Rainbow Wāhine Softball team saw its two-game skid be extended to three games as they fell to the UC San Diego Tritons, 4-1, at Rainbow Wāhine Softball Stadium on Friday.
UC San Diego used nine hits to UH's two, including a triple homer from Alexa Demarse in the sixth inning to turn back the Wāhine. The Tritons had schooled Hawaiʻi on hits as everything seemed to connect with the bats.
UH got on the board first in the fourth inning via a Haley Johnson RBI single, which resulted in Kaʻena Keliinoi running home.
UCSD responded back in the fifth inning with an unearned run from Hailey Mulligan. Demarse's triple homer in the sixth inning nearly put the writing on the wall for the 'Bows, and UH could not score again after that Keliinoi run.
UH dropped to 3-4 in Big West Conference play and 20-13 overall while UCSD improved to 4-3 in Big West play and 14-17 overall. Hawaiʻi will hope to seek revenge when both teams return to the diamond in a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 1 at 12 pm HST.
