Hawaiʻi softball hoping to end 2023 with a bang
Hawaiʻi has one last chance for a 3-0 sweep for senior week
The Rainbow Wāhine Softball team will look for a last hurrah to end their season against UC Davis on Thursday, May 11, and Friday, May 12, in a doubleheader. The 'Bows will also bid aloha to seniors Cira Bartolotti, Amanda Ajari, Princess Matavao, and Rachel "Bueller" Sabourin.
The 'Bows are coming off five consecutive tough losses, including being swept by conference leader Cal State Fullerton at Fullerton last week. They've had their problems in those past five games; the 'Bows have been outscored, 23-3, by their opponents, and have been shut out in three of those last five games, and one game was decided via the mercy rule.
Hawaiʻi, who was picked to finish third in the Big West this season, currently sits in sixth place at 12-12, and 29-21 overall. They have dealt with some injuries this season, including losing Dallas Millwood before the season ever got started. Their last win came on Apr. 28 against Long Beach State, 7-3.
Hawaiʻi is still in search of a 3-0 sweep, despite winning four straight series before Long Beach State -- all by 2-1 decisions. UC Davis will be Hawaiʻi's last chance to do so.
The 'Bows will swing the bats again on Thursday, May 11, at 6 pm HST, and in a doubleheader Friday, May 12, at 4 pm and 6 pm HST against UC Davis at Rainbow Wāhine Softball Stadium. The Friday doubleheader will be televised on Spectrum Sports, but Thursday's game will not.
